Project Swarajya has completed 33 years this year. The year began and ended with Pandemic COVID-19 lockdown and shutdowns globally, which has affected the life of people of all the sections of the society. We are pleased to share our feelings and experience with others by publishing our Annual Report 2021-22.
We modify our strategy from time to time to keep to the tune of the changes happening in the World. But our objective and vision would remain same as before as the name of our organization “SWARAJYA” suggests. Our advocacy and related campaign to ensure Human Rights and Social Justice in favour of under privileged individuals and also groups started since inception of the organisation. Among them, ‘Prevention of Drug Abuse and Alcoholism has been one of the major campaigns’ which our organisation has been pioneering in the field of prohibition. Coming across 29 years of experience in working directly with NISHA ROGIS we felt alcoholism and drug abuse destroys the life, livelihood and relationship of individuals, families and neighbourhoods. So we have been demanding in all government and private forum to make policy on ‘Drug Abuse and Alcoholism as Public Health Issue’.
Besides the above major achievements, our organisation played vital role to help the persons under various compulsion. We have provided treatment to hundreds of addicts who have been cured and presently they are able to lead drug and alcohol free life.
Regarding the issue of protection of women’s right our organization was also an actor among others to motivate public to demand more women friendly support units to prevent violence against women.
The women and girls who were the victims of different kinds of violence rescued by police, officials and social workers and presently they are taking shelter at Swarajya Swadhar Greh. Besides that most of them have been rehabilitated in different sphere. This year is also very appalling for Corona pandemic infection. One family being resisted by their villagers to stay at their own home has taken shelter in Swarajya Swadhar Greh with maintaining social distance and following SOP fixed by Govt.
Last but not least, in order to continue such activities we must thank our supporting and collaborating organisations and network partners such as; NAWO, ATSEC Anti Trafficking Network, Public Health Association, Asian Network Of Women Shelter, Global Network of Women Shelter, CWS, Nirnaya Trust, WWF India etc. along with the Ministries of Social Justice & Empowerment, Govt of India, Department of Women & Child Development, Social Security and Empowerment the Person with Disability, Consumer Welfare, etc Govt of Odisha and District Administration of Cuttack & Kendrapara for their continuous support to us.
