WOMEN EMPOWERMENTAND CHILD DEVELOPMENT
Like past years, this year also Project Swarajya has been continuing its campaign to empower the women through service delivery activities, advocacy and lobbying at various levels. A Swadhar Greh for Women and Children in Distress are continuing in the district headquarters of Kendrapara. Besides the above, organization has conducted a series of activities in collaboration with various networks like NAWO, GNWS, ANWS and ATSEC (Anti trafficking Campaign Network). A counselling service is being provided to the victims of domestic violence in the head office.
Management of Swarajya SWADHAR GREH in Kendrapara
The “Swarajya Short Stay Home” was started on 1st January 2007 and later upgraded to Swadhar Greh as per the scheme since 1st January 2015 which is also functioning at same place.
The home is meant for women and girls who happened to be victim of violence. There various support services are being provided to the inmates such as: shelter, food, clothes, education, counselling, skill building and legal aid training. During their stay at Swadhar Greh they were provided various supports such as solving their conjugal and family problem, rehabilitating the victims of rape, supporting them legal aid, getting them marriage, rescuing and rehabilitating the trafficking victims etc. The inmates of the home are also provided various skill training for their economic empowerment during their stay in the home. Most of them were provided vocational training conducted by State Bank of India under the scheme of State Bank Rural Self Employment training on the recommendation of Superintendent. After completing the training they have been employed at different production units and show rooms. They also take part in selling the materials produce by the inmates during exhibitions organised by district administration in various occasion.
